Volunteering

We deeply depend on our parents’ involvement and volunteerism for the success of St John’s. We also believe that when parents are active participants in their children’s school, they are setting a wonderful example which mirrors our program’s community-oriented philosophy. This is why families are obligated to complete twenty (20) hours of volunteer work for St. John’s each school year (September – August).

Volunteer hours can be recorded on volunteer forms (blue slips), found in the school office, or emailed to your location’s director. Hours completed and turned in by the 25th of each month will be reflected in your monthly tuition statements.

Volunteering is a mandatory policy required for admission. Failure to volunteer will result in a fee of $12.00 per hour, charged at the end of the school year or upon your child’s withdrawal

There are countless ways to help out:

  • Participate during classroom activities, holiday parties, fundraisers and events (such as our annual Art Gala),
  • Sharing your hobbies, career, talents, etc.,
  • Arranging for special field trips or visitors,
  • Assisting in general cleaning, washing, toy sanitizing, building, grounds maintenance, repair, etc.,
  • Helping out with office work
  • Donating brand new, unopened toys or laundry, and
  • Assisting in teacher appreciation week

Though we deeply appreciate the donation of used toys, unfortunately we cannot count them towards the accumulation of volunteer hours, as well as potluck foods/meals and Art Gala donations.
